Happy to report that I'm feeling stronger and wiser than ever!
Happy to report that I'm feeling stronger and wiser than ever!

I hit a big milestone this week and reached the big 4-0! 🥳🥳 And while I’ve always had an old soul, I definitely don’t feel like I’m “getting old.” If anything, I feel like I’m just hitting my stride.

Now, let’s be real—I’m not leaving the house once my bra is off lol and my momma did not raise me like that! Growing up, my parents never seemed old to me…and they still don’t! They’ve always been active, fun, and never carry themselves like life is slowing them down.

But I’ve learned to appreciate the balance: the joy of being active and the value of slowing down at home.

As elder millennials, we’re all just trying to find that sweet spot, right?

I get why people lean on the scapegoat of, “Oh, I can’t do that anymore, I’m too old.” It’s not like we were practicing hip mobility drills back in college! Still, there’s truth in the saying Move it or lose it. A little effort every day goes a long way—no matter your age.

At 40, I feel stronger—mentally and physically—now than I did in my twenties. And it’s not by accident. I put in the time to challenge both my brain and my body daily. I move with more intention than I ever did in my youth. Back then, I thought strength was just about muscles; now, I know it’s about awareness, resilience, and showing up for myself consistently.

The goal is no longer just fitness—it’s enlightenment and awareness.

But let’s be real: it’s not all golden hour walks and warrior poses.

Aging as a woman is a rowdy ass ride. Like the utter shock of finding that one random, long hair on my chin, or even worse… the long gray hair Jamie pulled out of my back. 🤢 (Seriously—what is that even about?!) And let’s not forget about menopause right around the corner. I’m doing my best to meet it prepared: eating well, moving daily, and yes—supplementing wisely. (If you missed it, I shared some of my favorites in my supplement blog.)

On a serious note...

In my old case manager days, I walked into wayyyyy too many homes where a client had been stuck on the floor for hours or overnight, waiting for anyone to show up and help. I don’t want that to be my story. I want to be strong and capable for as long as possible, not just for myself but for the people I love.

Not everyone gets the gift of 40 years, and I don’t take that lightly, nor did I make it here by chance. I thank God for the lessons, the scars, the growth, and the people who walk this journey with me.

So here’s to 40. Not the end of youth, but the start of a new kind of strength. A decade where I can laugh at my chin hair, embrace the lessons, lean into my faith, love my family fiercely, and keep choosing movement over excuses.

But enough about me—what about you?

  • If you’ve hit a milestone birthday, how did you feel stepping into that new chapter?

  • What are your “move it or lose it” habits that help you feel strong no matter the number on your driver’s license?

  • And if you’re not there yet, what’s something you want your future self to thank you for?

I’d love to hear your thoughts—drop them in the comments or send me a message.
