Seasons Won’t Get Easier—But You Can Get Stronger

How to Pivot & Find Strength in Every Season

Life has seasons. Some flow easily, others stretch us to our limits. And too often, we get caught in the trap of looking back — remembering when we used to work out all the time, when our schedule felt lighter, or when our energy seemed limitless. But here’s the truth: every season in life is different, and the seasons ahead aren’t likely to get easier.
I say all this as I am currently working from home and taking care of my little strep throat patient. (Nothing like trying to send emails while playing nurse, snack provider, and giving much needed cuddles. Moms, you feel me.) It’s not the season I had planned for, but it’s the one I’m in. And that’s the thing about seasons — they rarely check our calendars before showing up.
Instead of chasing the past, we’ve got to learn how to pivot. Just like the school year comes around and shifts the entire household into a new rhythm, our personal seasons call us to realign. Whether it’s raising kids, navigating career shifts, or just adjusting to new energy levels, the goal isn’t to recreate who we once were — it’s to move forward with strength and purpose right where we are.
Back-to-school is a perfect reminder of this. For parents, the schedule flips overnight — carpools, practices, homework, and routines. It feels like a fresh start, but it can also feel overwhelming. And if you’re like me, you’re balancing the “new rhythm” of school with the curveballs of everyday life — like sick days, surprise projects, and the constant chorus of “Mom, where’s my…?”
Here’s the good news: seasons may not get easier, but we can get stronger. Not because we force perfection, but because we choose to show up anyway. We choose to set boundaries, prioritize movement, nourish our bodies, and keep modeling what it looks like to pivot instead of quit.
Because whether we realize it or not, our kids are watching. They see how we handle stress, transition, and self-care. If we’re always stuck in the past or waiting for “someday when life gets easier,” we miss the chance to teach them resilience. But if we pivot — even when we’re tired, even when the season feels chaotic — we not only grow stronger ourselves, we give them a powerful example of how to do the same.
3 Practical Pivots for This Season
Mini-Movement Moments – If you can’t carve out an hour, grab 10 minutes. Do a kettlebell flow, a walk around the block, or stretch between Zoom calls. Movement doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. I’m about to do one of our Evolve Online 20 minute HIIT workouts. Elliott’s got an ipad, tissue box and water and will be just fine while I take care of myself for a moment.
Plan “Good Enough” Meals – Dinner doesn’t need to be gourmet. Half a plate of veggies, some protein, and a carb you actually like counts as a win. Perfection isn’t the goal — fueling is.
Anchor One Non-Negotiable – Pick one habit that grounds you — water, prayer, journaling, or bedtime routine — and treat it like an appointment. It keeps you steady even when the season feels messy.
So here’s the encouragement: stop waiting for the perfect season. It doesn’t exist. Instead, honor the one you’re in. Adjust. Recalibrate. Laugh at the chaos when you can. Pivot when needed. And keep showing up — not just for yourself, but for the ones watching you.
